Ephraim B. Teeple was born in March 1846 in Ohio to Asa B. Teeple and Julia Mock. His older brother was Almon and his younger brother was Ira W. In addition, there was a youngest child, known only as J. Their home was Defiance Co OH. Asa died in 1851 and the three older boys were found next living with Jacob and Elizabeth Teeple in Tuscarawas Co OH in the 1860 census - their grandparents? Asa's widow, Julia, married James Durham and the same 1860 census shows J. living with her.

     Ephraim married Anna Maria Swank 5 Mar 1869 in Freesoil, Mason Co MI and he and son Harry are known there until the 1900 census. Ephraim's pioneer cabin has been memorialized on a 1955 Mason County Centennial plate.
